Internationally Qualified Coach
Hemant V. Jadhav is an Internationally qualified Coach from the ISSF Shooting Academy (Munich) with an additional Diploma of Honour awarded by the ISSF Academy for ‘Outstanding Homework’ submitted for the ‘C’ Licence Course conducted at Munich, Germany in 2001.
Hemant took to shooting at a very early age, following the footsteps of his illustrious father – Late Lt. Col. V. P. Jadhav (The Poona Horse), who himself was a crack shot and an accomplished Polo player and Horseman.
In 1983, he participated in the PMTC (Pistol Marksmanship & Training Course) conducted at the Worli Shooting Ranges by none other than the 1984 Asian Games Silver Medalist in Rapid Fire Pistol, – Mr. Sharad Chauhan.
He stood first in the course, and after he had spotted the talent in him, Mr. Sharad Chauhan motivated him to take up pistol shooting seriously by providing him with an Air Pistol for training.
In those days, Pistol Shooting was not a ‘Career Option’; hence, for the next nine years, Hemant had to shelve his passion for shooting in order to pursue his professional career. He, however, returned to being a full-time shooter nine years later, at the age of 31 in 1991.
He was once again supported by Mr. Chauhan and Mr. Dhiren Bhatia – ‘D’ Ward Shooting Club, which enabled him to win the Gold medal in the Individual Category (Air Pistol) with a score of 368/400 at the 2nd G.V. Mavlankar in 1992.
He went on to represent his home state- Maharashtra, in the National Shooting Championships and two National Games (Bangalore and Imphal) from 1991 to 2000, winning several Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals (Individual & Team categories) at various State & National level in the Air Pistol and Free Pistol events. His highest score was 568/600 in the National Games at Imphal, while his training scores were 570+.
In 1998, he began experiencing severe and excruciating pain in his neck and right shoulder (shooting arm). This was diagnosed as a severe case of Spondylitis. He had to undergo an emergency operation, which put an abrupt end to his shooting career.
Unable to pursue his ‘first love’ and passion for shooting led to a great deal of frustration. It was the late Mr. B.P. Bam (eminent sports psychologist) who convinced him to take up ‘Coaching.’
Mr. Bam had taken a special interest in him and supported him in every stage of his shooting and coaching career.
Thus, from a shooter, he donned the new avatar of a ‘coach’, and the same drive, fire, and passion he had for shooting was channeled into coaching. In the process, he produced several International Junior Shooters, some of whom also won international medals.
One aspect of shooting that bothered him was the lack of organized coaching in India. He himself had learned shooting the hard way – without a proper coach. Even though India is fast becoming a force to reckon with in the world, haphazard coaching has led to many talented shooters giving up the sport in the arena of shooting.
There are many young shooters in the remotest parts of India who have no access to coaching facilities; with such shooters in mind, Hemant decided to set up a website that would enable such people to access quality coaching which would help them achieve their goals of becoming International Shooters.
With this goal in mind, foresightshooting.com has come into existence.
